Lets first define what an alt tag is and where you can find them. Alt tags or alternative text are the small text boxes that appear when you hover your mouse over an image or button on a website. They contain descriptive information about that particular image or the destination of the button.

Look at the two examples below. On the left, the mouse is hovering over a button that links to a page described as Free SEO Tool in the alt tag.

Alt tags are mainly used by people who cannot see images on your website. Im sure you remember the dial-up age when websites took what seemed like forever to open, especially the ones with a lot of images. Some browsers had an option to turn images off. This allowed websites to open much faster. In place of the images were alt tags, describing the image that was suppose to be there. Of course dial-up modems have become out-dated and a thing of the past so why are we still using alt tags?

Alt tags are also used in major search engine algorithms. Search engine robots or spiders cannot read images; however they can and do read alt tags. Alt tags help search engines learn more about your website, especially those that lack a lot of content. If used correctly it will even help your website rank higher. Good and descriptive alternative text should be placed on all images, pictures and buttons according to the Design and Content Google Guidelines.

Alt Tag are also used by Google to classify and index the images from your web sites! Of course that is more important for an Desktop Wallpapers Site like anime wallpapers where you got thousands of pics. But even with smaller sites not related to pictures, it can reprensent a good amount of visitors!

Another good reason to use alt tags is accessibility. People with physical disabilities like the blind want to access your website. The buying power of the blind is in the billions and yes, they are frequent web surfers and home Workers!. However, instead of being able to read content on your website its read to them by the computer using a simple application. They cannot see images or buttons on websites so alt tags allow them to get a good description of the image or button. In country or provinces like In Quebec, Canada, this is a requirement form the government on regarding the big web site to make the sites accessible.

So make it a priority, make sure your web design firm uses good, descriptive alt tags on all of your images. A good way to test your website is to simply rollover all your images and look for alt tags. You can also use our Free SEO Tool to determine if youre missing any alt tags.

Adsense is Google’s way of motivating people to create sites with good content. Here are some rules to follow to make sure you get the best out of your Adsense account.

DOs

Create sites which are easy to navigate and have good content.

Track your Adsense clicks and try to add content related to what your website visitors want.

DON’Ts

Never, never, never, never, never ask your visitors to click on your ads. This is a strict NO according to the Google Adsense TOS, and this is one of the main reasons that your account could be shut down.

NEVER click on ads on your own site. The Adsense team tracks for such invalid clicks and you will surely get a warning letter if they find that you are clicking on your own ads. If you still continue to do it, just bid your account goodbye.

DO NOT use automated software which promises to click on ads on your site.

Don’t build sites just for Adsense income. Some publishers try to take a short-cut by creating sites with high-paying keywords and put in the Adsense code along with some junk content or search engine results. While this could get you a couple of clicks in the beginning, it won’t help you in the long run. This is another reason your account could be terminated.

Summary:
Question : what kind of directories are seen as a source of paid links and if yahoo and botw directories charges money to list your websites and links then why they are not seen as any other sites selling paid links?Answer : This is more like the regular template answer of matt cutts.

What is the value of a directory. Do they charge money to list your site, what is the editorial value of the directory. How do they list sites, do they only add links that are being submitted or they find links on their own?

If the editorial value is low, means all links submitted are approved then directory is selling paid links. fly by night directories, directories asking for submissions on the basis of page rank etc. directories accepting text, (am sure he means keywords here, or anchor text).

He says yahoo directory has good editorial value so its a good directory.

Every day we spot missed opportunities online. Often, many of these problems are simple to remedy. Here the top five missed opportunities we come across on a regular basis:

1. Missing or duplicate meta data – Having no meta data or having it simply repeat the brand is an obvious SEO problem that is easy to fix most of the time. The same goes for duplicate meta data – sometimes the developers will repeat the same meta tags throughout the whole website, which the search engines may read as duplicate content, resulting in a failure to rank.

2. Text as images – Content is king online, so dont lock up your text in Flash or as images, no matter how cool it might look. If you dont give the search engines content to crawl you will have a hard time ranking no matter what else you do.

3. No internal linking – A solid internal linking strategy helps your users navigate through your site and it ensures that the search engines crawl and rank your website.

4. Missing or irrelevant alt tags – If you have images on your site, it is a simple matter to ensure that keywords are placed in your alt tags, and it will definitely have a positive effect on your rankings. Also, it helps users who cannot view the images for whatever reason (they are visually impaired, they have a slow connection, or they are using a substandard browser like IE6) understand the content on your site.

5. No robots.txt file – This file tells the search engines what pages of your site should be indexed and what should be ignored. Even if there are no pages on your site that you want to leave out of the search results, this file is still essential as it helps the search engine crawlers determine what to do with your sites pages.

Now this happens many times, especially with the newbie webmasters. They go for the “Hosting + Domain Registration” combo package from a local company at considerably high price for inadequate services. And when they check out the price and services offered by other reputable Hosting companies/ Domain Registrars, they want to change their Host/ Registrar.

Changing host, is comparatively easy..but what can be more difficult is Registrar shifting. So lets start with the Registrar Shifting process.

First of all choose a suitable Domain Registrar, depending upon your needs. You must always check for the promotional offers available with various big Domain Registrars. Keep in mind “Domain Transfer” is not a free process. The registrar will charge some fee, approx. to 1 yr. “.com” registration fee – i.e. $7-8. Many registrars give 1 yr. registration free with transfer.

Now, once you’ve chosen your new registrar, go to your old Registrar’s domain manager and look for the security code. If you have locked the domain, first step will be to unlock it. Once you got the security code. Go to new Registrar, check for “Domain Transfer” option and enter that code.

If you have entered the code correctly, there will be one notification on the email address associated with that domain. When you rceeive that email, you need to do nothing. Just wait for the estimated days, usually upto 7 days, and you can see your domain in new Registrar’s Domain List.

Thats it, you have transferred your domain successfully to your new Registrar.

Most successful sites rely on returning visitors for the main part of their traffic. The more return visitor you have, the easier for them to turn into paying customers because they’re confidence with your website. There are many techniques to get visitors to your website and keep them coming. I’ll shortlist 5 of the most important:

1) Add and Start a Forum Section, Shout Box or Chat Room
The first thing you need to do is to get your website alive by adding a forum section, shout box, section, add comment to post or picture. By this way, your visitor will have a place to voice their opinion, thought and as well interact with you or other visitors. The more fascinating conversation topics you put, the more visitors will have the feel of community and they will coming back to your website almost every day. Also, if your visitors found something that interesting, they will keep refer the others to come to your web site.

2) Start a web log (Blog)
Write an online journal, article or tips or more typically better known as a blog, keep post the latest news about your website or yourself, and write an interesting article. You will as well improve the website (or yourself) credibility because your visitor will know that your website is alive and they will realize that the web site have a real life individual behind it.

3) Encourage your visitor to take polls or surveys
You can also add some interesting polls or surveys where visitor can voice their opinion and thought and this will encourage them to be active in your website. This is extra method for user and web site interaction and make sure the polls or surveys topics are strongly related to your website niche. This will also keep your visitors coming to your website as human beings are curious creatures and they are fascinated to know about the final result of polls or surveys.

4) Add Videos, Music’s, Games, Puzzles or Quizzes to Your Website
Sometimes people will feel bored and they always searching something that exciting or entertainment. You can put some latest or top music or videos and ask your visitors to put some comment for it. Imagine that if you put some funny video in your blog post, how much visitors and comments you will get? Besides that, you can also put some flash games, quizzes or puzzles in your web site. This way, you also as well hold the competitions for your visitors to get the high score for specified game and your visitors will keep trying continuously to win the game.

5) Update frequently with fresh articles
To keep your visitor coming back, you must update your website often so your visitor will have something to read on your web site. This is the most effective technique to pull visitors coming to your website. As the matter of fact, no one will surf a web site that looks the same for over the years.

As for conclusion, the tips I listed above is the most common ways to get your visitor coming back. I agree that these tips is only for suitable niche such as community sites or personal web sites.

With so many web hosting companies in market, choosing a right web host for any webmaster can be quite difficult. To help with this there are many web hosting review websites in the market providing you with the reviews and ratings for different web hosting companies. But not all these review sites are as reliable as they claim.

Most of the times these review sites are nothing but the mere advertising sites created by that particular host itself. Others may be affiliated to that particular web host.

As you know many people using blog comment for build back-link and they always comment wherever they can. But does it really good and make their business growing up ? But did you think spam comment will hurt your website and return back unwanted result ?

How to write a good blog comment ?

For write a good blog comment, I have some tips to help you improve quality of your comment and it can help you keep your comment alive without delete or move to spam.

1. Determine Your Purpose

People have different reason to write blog comment. What’s yours ?

You trying to get back-links, drive traffic to your website ?

You disagree with someone and want to tell the truth to people ?

You appreciate and want to say thank you for his/her jobs ?

Sometime, understand your motivation will help you decide what kind of comment you will write about.

2. Understand Content of Article/Post

When I reading some comment in blog, almost of it just :

Thanks for share that. Great

Thanks. Pretty good

It help me so much

…

I know they just write for their purpose and don’t want to take much time in their comment. Just say thank you and leave, they don’t need to think about article content and what is it talking about. Mainly, comment posted and showing in comment pages.

It’s main reason to delete your comment without confused. Save your time and comment to tell something useful or just give a minutes to think and write good comment. I know you’re not professional writer, I’m not too. But I sure you can write better than others people I tell above. Right ?

3. Make Link Carefully

As I asking above, if you’re make this comment for satisfy your purpose, think carefully before put a link in your comment. Don’t confused to put your link if comment box has a place to put ” Your Website ” or ” URL “. But there are no where to put your link, final way is put link into body of comment.

Is it risky thing ?

If you’re moderator or owner of blog, you see a comment, short comment with irrelevant link , do you delete it ? I sure I’ll remove it and and report as spam for next time. Many people will doing follow my way, then beware.

4. Grammar and Spelling

Not almost comment editor include spelling checker, you should review your comment before submit. How could you tell to people something when you can spell it ?

5. Telling More Information

I know short comment is okay and almost of it will accept by site owner. You say ” thank you ” , ” love it ” or ” pretty good “. Just tell a bit more to people why you like it ? It will make more good point to your comment
